The OCF offers a certain amount of printing to individual members. You don't have to request a new account each semester - the quota is refreshed at the start of each semester.
Printing is currently limited to:
- 200 pages per semester
- 30 pages per day
Please note:
- Each printed side of a sheet counts as a page.
- Jobs take time to process proportional to the job size. If you submit a large job, please be patient while the print server processes it.
Remaining quota¶
To see how many pages you have left for the day and semester, check your OCF account online or run the paper
command in the shell. Print
quota is also displayed at the top of the screen when using a lab computer.
Check your print balance regularly!
Printing refunds¶
Pages are not normally refunded, except in cases of technical issues. In this case, you should talk with the OCF Operations Staff at the front desk for a refund.
Out of pages?¶
Here are some other places you can print on and around campus:
Mobile print stations¶
The nearest print stations are located on the 2nd floor of MLK (upstairs, next to the help desk), on the 1st floor of Eshleman Hall, and on the 1st floor of Sproul Hall. They require a Wepa Print account, which can be accessed for students through CalNet. Venmo, PayPal, and contactless payments (e.g. Apple Pay) are supported.
Printing rates per sheet: * $0.07 b/w single-sided * $0.13 b/w double-sided * $0.35 color single-sided * $0.68 color double-sided
University libraries¶
Printing is available at Moffitt Library, Doe Library, Main Stacks, and most other libraries on campus. The Moffitt Copy Center offers more extensive printing support. You will need to deposit money into your Cal 1 Card debit account to pay for printing.
Printing rates per sheet: * $0.08 b/w single-sided * $0.11 b/w double-sided * $0.60 color single-sided * $1.20 color double-sided
Academic departments¶
- Limited free printing is available for students in the EECS department or enrolled in an EECS course by creating an EECS Instructional account.
- Haas students have access to online printing at a rate of $0.05 per page.
Check with your own department for resources offered to students.
Campus resource centers¶
The Queer Alliance Resource Center (QARC) and Multicultural Community Center (MCC) have free printers available. There's no strict quota but these organizations have limited funds, so use printing wisely.
Off-campus printing¶
- The Berkeley Public Library offers 40 free pages in black-and-white and 8 in color per day. Nearby branches are located downtown and in Elmwood.
- CopyCentral on Southside and Krishna Copy Center in downtown offer commercial printing services.
Note: the above printing resources are not managed by the OCF and may be unavailable even if listed here. You will need to contact them directly for up-to-date information.
